Account deletion
Request deletion of your Burn account
This page explains how a Burn user can request deletion of account data associated with their Burn code.
Burn does not require traditional personal identity information for normal use. The main account reference used for deletion requests is your 16-character Burn code.
How to request deletion
- Open the Burn app on a device where you can still access your account.
- Go to `Settings` -> `Feedback`.
- Send a message with the subject or first line: `Delete my Burn account`.
- Include your 16-character Burn code in the request so Burn support can match the request to the correct account records.
- Wait for confirmation from Burn support that the deletion request has been received and processed.
What Burn will delete
- Account records associated with your Burn code, where those records are maintained for Burn service operation.
- Cloud-stored backup and recovery records associated with your Burn code or related recovery references, where deletion is supported for those records.
- Support records, linked service records, and other Burn-managed data tied to your account request, except where retention is legally required or operationally necessary to prevent fraud or resolve disputes.
What Burn may keep
- Payment processor or card-network records that Burn does not directly control.
- Transaction, accounting, tax, fraud-prevention, security, legal-compliance, or dispute-resolution records that must be retained by law or for legitimate operational reasons.
- De-identified, aggregated, or non-account-specific operational information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you.
If records must be retained for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, security, or dispute-resolution reasons, they may be kept for the period required by law or for the time reasonably necessary to satisfy those obligations.
